Raspberries

There are 2 types of Raspberries; summer-bearing plants produce one big crop in summer and ever-bearing which produce fruit in the summer as well as fall.

The first year after planting, all the flowers should be removed to allow the plant to build up reserves. From the second year on, the plants will flower in the spring and the Raspberries will ripen in the summer or fall.

Raspberry plants need adequate water and fertilizer in the spring and summer, to produce the biggest juiciest berries.

Heritage Raspberry

• This raspberry plant doesn’t need staking. For a summer crop, cut back canes partly after fall fruiting.

Currants

Currents are prized for their distinctive flavor and are full of vitamins. Extremely hardy varieties of currants are available, producing intensely flavoured berries. Ideal for making juice, jams, jelly and pies.

Blackberries

Blackberries are excellent eaten fresh or frozen, or try some blackberry wine. Ideal for making juice, jams, jelly and pies. Plants are very disease-resistant and are ideally suited for growing against a fence or trellis.

Navaho Blackberry

• Produce a heavy yield of black very large sweet berries.

Black Satin

• Produces very large, firm black berries. Excellent flavor.

Gooseberry

Their distinctive sweet-sour flavor is ideal for desserts and preserves and their acidity levels lend itself beautifully to sauces for fish and meat.

Red Gooseberry

• Produces a good yield crop of pink-red large sweet tasting berries.
• Very cold hardy and good resistance to powdery mildew.
• Excellent disease resistance.

Green Gooseberry

• Produce a high yield crop of large green fruit.

Jostaberry

Jostaberries are excellent for eating fresh and are a currant gooseberry hybrid. Until they turn nearly black and ripen they look like a gooseberry. The berry size is larger with a milder flavor then black currents.

Loganberry

Loganberries are a blackberry-raspberry cross excellent for desserts and jams.

Hardy Fig

• Produces a high yield of medium dark brown fruit that is deliciously sweet.

Kiwi Issai

Kiwi are excellent for eating fresh, deserts, jams or jellies and freezing.
